6/28/2022 0 Comments Back AgainAndy, Jen, Jack and Tom returned to try their hand at mahi fishing, the last time they were here we kept them on the reef and caught a lot of yellowtail snapper. This time we ventured off shore and found a dozen mahi with one decent 14 lb fish that Jack caught and a couple tunas.
I put Dave back in the pit today as Pati and I returned yesterday from visiting friends and family up north. I'm sure he was happy for the break.

6/26/2022 0 Comments June 26th, 2022More MahiDave sent me this picture of his group today and it looks like it was an all ladies day with no sign of Bill. Appears they had a great day catching plenty of mahi and finishing up with the yellowtail snapper once again.
6/25/2022 0 Comments June 25th, 2022Good Day With The MahiBill and his group have been out with us several times recently but they haven’t seen a lot of mahi, today Dave put together a good catch of mahi along with the yellowtail snapper.
6/22/2022 0 Comments June 22nd, 2022A Little Bit Of WindWillow, Dave, Doug and Dan decided to stay close rather then chase after a few mahi on their shortened day today, so captain Dave took them to several spots on the reef where they were able to catch over 30 snapper. With more wind then we have had the last week or so it was also less choppy in close then offshore which kept everyone in good spirits. Mitch and Dave had a great time with these folks and they look forward to fishing with them again soon.
6/19/2022 0 Comments Another Beautiful DayPhil and his guys had a busy day with captain Dave catching some mahi, yellowtail, almaco jacks and barracuda. Can’t complain about our weather over the last week or so, we have had low wind and beautiful weather for boating.
6/18/2022 0 Comments Victor and EnaVictor books me a year in advance as do a few others and today was no different, as soon as we got back he told me to book them the same time next year. I said I couldn't because another of my regulars had booked that day two years ago, so Victor went ahead and booked us a week later.
We caught 16 mahi and a couple of nice rudder fish (which are also very good eating) and although the bite was not as good as in years passed the folks were happy and they will be back. 6/17/2022 0 Comments A Little DifficultAs you can see, a good time was had by all today even though the mahi bite slowed down. Captain Dave was able to put a decent catch together of almaco jacks, yellowtail snapper, a few mahi and send his folks home with plenty of fish for dinners and the freezer.
6/16/2022 0 Comments Last Day For The DuncansWe had Brian and Matt as our anglers today with Dr Mike along for moral support. We started well catching four mahi out of one of the 1st sets but for the next couple hours we could only catch one a a time and they were not adding up very quickly. We headed a little farther out and things got better as we got deeper, we ended up with 18 fish up to 15 lbs.
Last day of fishing for these folks and as always their stay is over too quickly. 6/15/2022 0 Comments A Good Day With The MahiDave caught over twenty mahi and an almaco jack with Aaron and his family today. Hopefully the mahi bite continues to improve as we get into the second half of June and into July.
6/14/2022 0 Comments Duncan FamilyChristopher, Kirstyn, Kathryn, Brian and Matt, all Duncans except for Matt, fished with us today on another beautiful day. Dr Mike, Kirstyn and Chris fished yesterday on a difficult day that saw enough yellowtail snapper and mahi for a few dinners but generally it was a struggle. Today we did better with a couple almacos, eight mahi, a bonito, some yellowtails and a mutton snapper.
We get to fish with these long time friends again on Thursday and as always we enjoy our time with them and always look forward to their visits. 6/13/2022 0 Comments Two For Two6/13/2022 0 Comments Variety CatchDave started with the tails, moved on to the mahi and finished up with a couple jacks on his full day with Ted and his group yesterday.
6/11/2022 0 Comments GAFThere were around 40 boats in this annual tournament and today was the day for this GAF big fish extravaganza. We did not catch any big fish that we could enter toward the prizes but we did catch a lot of fish and had a really good time with our group some of which we have fished with before and some were new to the kk.
6/10/2022 0 Comments Second DayDave fished both days of the OZ tournament and he suffered the first day (as a lot of boat did) with just a few fish and no big ones, so when his crew today said they just wanted to catch fish and didn't care about catching the biggest that was all Dave needed to change the game plan and put numbers in the boat.
Caught the almacos at the hump and headed back in where the yellowtails have been good, caught 25 of them, some other stuff and ended the day with a good rack of fish. 6/8/2022 0 Comments Allie, Paul and BartToday we caught some of the biggest yellowtails that I can ever remember catching in Islamorada. The biggest tail measured 27 inches which is huge for a yellowtail anywhere but especially on our Islamorada reefs. We limited out on these big tails and then afterwards when we ventured offshore found eight mahi along with three almaco jacks at the hump.
Paul is a very good angler but his new wife Allie picked things up quickly and she will soon be as good as Paul. Bart sat back and enjoyed watching the newlyweds fish getting involved when he was needed. Great folks that will be back soon, looking forward to it! 6/7/2022 0 Comments More RainSix mahi, one tuna and twenty tails made for a good day with Captain Dave at the helm. He told me there was lots of rain most of the day while he was on the water and we certainly experienced that while we were at the home today. Nice day again captain Dave.
6/6/2022 1 Comment Great Catch For Great FolksNot sure how many times we have fished this crew over the years but it has been a bunch of times and it is always a fun day with them.
We started with the yellowtails catching 10 or so very large tails along with a few normal size fish but I did decide to changed spots once to get in on a little better bite at another area. After we had close to 40 tails we moved on to a wreck where we found the mutton snappers, caught 6 of them and then later caught a yellowjack, a blackfin tuna and a large barracuda. We put up a really beautiful catch, very much appreciated by Rick Nancy, Bruce, Sandy and Mike. Thanks Folks. 6/5/2022 0 Comments Kalynn, Aaron and ArcherFriends of my daughter booked us for a 3/4 day today and I always feel a little more pressure when taking out friends or friends of friends or family. Fortunately it all went well.
Caught the nice yellowtail snappers to start and then went to the little hump where we caught a couple jacks, a couple mutton snappers and a few barracudas. Plenty of meals to take back to Georgia with them and we had a great time with Archer who is going to be an awesome fisherman when he grows a little more. 6/3/2022 0 Comments Two For A BunchMust admit I wasn't impressed with Dave's new I Phone when he first got it but recently he has sent me some awesome shots that he has been able to take with it.
Mitch said he lost count of the opportunities they had on tarpon last evening but they did catch two out of a bunch. This picture is really awesome and was taken by Dave from the flybridge. They also caught quite a few sharks but as it as been the last few evenings the tarpon have been the stars. 6/3/2022 0 Comments 3/4 Into A FullSteve and his guys were having such a good time that they decided to make it a full day yesterday with Captain Dave. A tuna, bunch of snapper, a couple jacks and a barracuda bit for this crew on another beautiful day in the keys.
6/2/2022 1 Comment Dave Is On A RollDave did a 1/2 day and an evening trip yesterday, caught the tails and tunas in the morning half day and then caught one out of two tarpon along with a bunch of shark in the evening.
We have already lost Friday due to this weather system arriving tomorrow and I don't see us getting out on Saturday unless the forecast is totally wrong. We will be out there Sunday once again. 6/1/2022 0 Comments One For FourDave went one for four on tarpon last evening along with nine or ten sharks. It was Brad's group again with a slightly different makeup than he had brought on Monday evening. A good time was had by all and we will definitely see them again soon.
