February Mahi

Picture
Big schools of mahi out in 400 to 500 ft but they weren't eating very well. We caught what would eat and ended our half day with a nice catch.

Warm Is much better

Ah the warm air is back! ! A little windy to start today and muddy water all the way to the edge of the reef but I'll take that  over what we had the last couple days.
We started slow with one  lost mahi on the edge but ended well with some big rose porgies and nice yellow eyes.

AM PM

The youngest of the 3 boys we had out today holding the snowy grouper he caught while deep dropping. An AM half, we also caught porgies, vermillion and jacks.
The afternoon half was uneventful as we sailfished and never got a shot.

Boston Escapees

Happy to be in relatively warm weather our clients today had a good day of fishing while working on their tans.
We caught the mahi in the 1st few minutes after putting the baits out. Since there wasn't much else happening on the edge we ventured out to the deep. The snapper, grouper and porgies were at every spot I dropped.
Another good day.

Connecticut Yankees

A father and son team out with us on a half day caught their limit of kingfish, a couple muttons and tangled with sharks.
The sharks got a couple of our nice bottom fish.Chris had a big one hooked up for awhile but it didn't show any signs of slowing down and finally broke the line.
We kept them busy and caught dinner. Not a bad half day.

Swedes

Picture
These kids were not on board today but  their fathers were on board and this was part of the group that was at the dock  when we got back.
My Swedish is pretty limited and therefore I didn't understand what the kids were saying but the enthusiasm didn't need translation.
We  caught just enough muttons, almaco jacks and mahi to feed the large group a fresh fish lunch.
Future fishermen on the KK!

Pati's Gone Fishing

My charter backed out for today and since it was supposed to be the best weather day we've had in the last 10 days I was very disappointed to say the least.
Pati (my wife) hasn't fished since her stroke last February so we decided it was time to do it and because her left arm and hand are still weak we decided  deep dropping was our best option.
It worked out well, leaving late and getting back early with some nice yellow eyes and vermillion snapper.
Just got home before the rain came in again and Tony got a good boat prewash compliment of mother nature.

Mixed

We had Jeff (one of regular customers) on board with some of his family today. A real mixed bag of fish with yellowtail, kingfish, mutton, vermillion and some real nice yellow eye snapper.
Jeff will be back in June for mahi season.
