8/28/2023 0 Comments Afternoon Silver King...This afternoon we went out for a few hours to try and bend the rod on some sharks and tarpon. It was an eventful trip with non stop action. We had three sharks on at one time and a steady bite all evening. We also caught a tarpon that put on an amazing aerial show. At the end of the trip I over heard some of the customers saying their arms were sore from catching . I can't wait to do it again.

8/28/2023 0 Comments One And Done... Today played out the way we would like every day to go. Andy and Jack fish with us a couple times a year. This time Jen and Tim also joined them. Even though Tim didn't do much fishing, we were able to get a couple Tunas past the sharks for him. After the slow tuna bite, we headed out a little deeper in search of some mahi. We found a lightly scattered weed line in about a thousand feet. There wasn't much life there and I decided to head out further. My mate Mitch pointed out some low flying birds working in an area over a weed patch. These birds were not leaving this area and it looked like it was a sure thing. As we approached, I saw a mahi jump out of the water chasing a flying fish and saw at least twenty more nice fish with it. Mitch executed a perfect cast ,placing a bait in front of the fish and the school grew to be over seventy fish. We caught our limit of forty fish and headed home .
8/27/2023 0 Comments Lexi's first time Offshore...Today was a perfect day for this Father/Daughter team. The wind came down and the sun came out. We were able to catch some tunas this morning on the Islamorada hump. It wasn't easy though. The sharks there are plentiful and hungry. My mate Mitch lowered a whole bonita down and it was eaten before it was twenty feet under the boat. After Lexi fought that shark to the boat , we headed out a little further and found some debris that was loaded with jacks and trigger fish. Sanjo and Lexi managed to catch enough Mahi for several dinners there. We all had an excellent day on the water and will be doing it again in the near future.
8/25/2023 0 Comments A Little Variety...As the winds slow down, ours seas are calming down and allows for some enjoyable fishing. Today we stuck to our plan of heading straight out and not stopping for live bait. As soon. as we stopped at the Islamorada hump to catch some Blackfin Tunas the bite was on. So were the sharks! We tried a couple different things there and were only able to get a couple past the sharks. We then continued to head out a little further in hopes of some mahi. We found some debris which had a couple of triple tail and a handful of mahi. We then continued further and caught some more mahi under birds. these fish were hard to keep up with as they were swimming hard to the east. It was a successful day to say the least. I'm looking forward to Waynes next trip on the Kay K.
8/24/2023 0 Comments Three On and Three Gone... This afternoon Doug Chartered the Kay K for an afternoon Shark and Tarpon trip for his wife and daughter to bend the rod before going out to dinner. During our three hour expedition they hooked three tarpon ranging from fifty to a hundred pounds. After getting several jumps out of these fish we managed to pull the hook. They are an amazing fish with explosive power and are always a great fight and are hard to land. Aside from that, we were able to catch several sharks and some Jack crevalle. It was a very eventful afternoon, and when we returned to the marina, Doug took his family upstairs to Wahoos for dinner and share there fishing stories.
8/24/2023 0 Comments Half Day On The Islamorada HumpMy first day back since my break and I'm happy to return on the water. The Wooten family were also ready to get out there and reel in some Tunas . We had a great bite going on with a variety of fish. The sharks were active as well. We caught Atlantic Bonita, Skipjack Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, and Mahi. We lost just as many fish to the sharks as we got to the boat. However, that is pretty exciting to see as well. Everybody had fun, even though the conditions were a little rough considering the wind for the past week. This family is taking their tuna to the Shrimp shack where they always do a great job preparing your dinner.
