7/4/2020 0 Comments Many Small FishLots of complaints from other charter boats about the huge schools of small mahi around and there not being enough of the legal size ones to catch. We were fortunate in that we found a decent school early, caught a dozen and found a second school later to add another 4 or 5.
The hump was good to us again, we caught the vermillon and blackfin snappers along with a couple almaco jacks and a scamp grouper. Jim and his family have had a lot of bad luck over the years with fishing and we were happy to finally turn things around for them.

7/3/2020 0 Comments Better AfternoonWe went right to the hump and started catching a few vermillon but more blackfin snapper than vermillons.
Karsten, his son and his friend had to learn the deep drop technique and got pretty good at it after a few drops. Karsten caught the nice grouper and we added a margate and almacco jack to the list of caught fish a little while later. These species are some of the finest eating fish there are to be eaten here in the keys or anywhere for that matter..... enjoy folks see you next time !! 7/3/2020 0 Comments Morning HalfSlow start this morning with Derek, Christie and their two boys, that is not the way you want things to start with little people and short attention spans. We did finally catch some really nice mangrove snappers and later a few yellowtails but there was no current and very clean water, so from there we went out to a wreck, caught a couple kingfish, a cobia and managed to keep the boys busy till it was time to go back and pick up our second half.
7/2/2020 0 Comments Boys DayBeth brought her two boys along on our charter to catch fish, and catch fish they did. We limited out on the mahi and then went to the hump where the big vermillon snapper were biting. Caught 10 of them and it was time to head home and start cleaning, A little warm today but flat calm and blue skies to keep everyone happy.
7/1/2020 0 Comments A Lot Of FishWe had 20 mahi at 9 o'clock and 35 by 11 o'clock which made everyone very happy, including the captain. Caught a few more to make it 40 and then went into the hump where the yelloweye and vermillon snappers were biting. The current was very light and the predators were letting us get most of the snappers to the boat, nice to be able to fish the hump again without getting eaten up.
Great family from Texas, Todd, Raquel, Lauren, Halley, Dillon and Grant, did a great job down there in the pit, kept things straight and listen well, that's all you can ask. See you next year folks! |
